Responsibilities
Strategic & Architectural Design
- Define the technical roadmap and future state architecture for the platform, including deployment models (on-premise, cloud, or hybrid) and integration patterns.
- Lead the design and implementation of large-scale, complex clinical data integrations and workflows, focusing on high availability and performance.
- Ensure the architecture effectively supports advanced features like population health analytics and AI/ML initiatives by harmonizing data in the SDA structure.
Technical Governance & Standards
- Establish and enforce development, configuration, and security standards for all integrations and custom applications.
- Oversee and guide the development teams on best practices for ObjectScript, DTL, XSLT, and BPL development within the Interoperability Production environment.
- Define the strategy for implementing and migrating to modern interoperability standards, particularly HL7 FHIR, ensuring the platform is ready for regulatory and industry changes.
- Manage security configuration, including authentication, authorization, consent management, and data filtering/masking within the platform to meet strict privacy requirements.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to developers and analysts, participating in code and design reviews to maintain quality and performance.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate complex clinical and business requirements into clear, robust technical specifications and architectural blueprints.
- Provide technical input for project estimations, resource planning, and risk assessments for HIE-related projects.
- Act as the liaison between the application team, infrastructure team, and external HIE partners during complex deployment and troubleshooting efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Healthcare IT, with at least 5 years specializing in architecting solutions
- Deep, demonstrable expertise in the entire HIE (Health Information Exchange) technology stack
- Expert-level knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 V2, CDA/CCDA, IHE profiles, and comprehensive FHIR implementation.
- Proven experience in designing and tuning high-volume, mission-critical integration productions.
- Strong understanding of database management, data modeling, and performance optimization within the HIE (Health Information Exchange)ecosystem (Globals, indexes).
- Experience with architecture and deployment in major cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both executive leadership and hands-on developers.
Preferred Qualifications
- HIE (Health Information Exchange) Certified Architect or other relevant high-level certifications.
- Familiarity with data warehousing, reporting tools, and analytics platforms built
- Experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Git, GitLab/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines)
